Loving Torchwood

Torchwood is really a great show. If you haven't checked it out, you really should do yourself the favor, and if you don't have cable, put it on your DVD list. It is scifi for grown-ups, with fun plots, complicated characters, and a mysterious lead who just keeps getting more and more interesting. Also, the character Gwen reminds SLY B of IRONICPINK. It might just be the hair.

The episode we watched last night was about a Torchwood member/employee (they hunt aliens, and work out of a secret underground lab/office) who was secretly storing his girlfriend at Torchwood headquarters. She had been attacked by an alien race of cyborgs, and he was trying to save her. The plots are corny, yes, but it's the action and how they get to a resolution that makes this show worth watching. As a big queer, I love the sexual ambiguity of at least two of the main characters, and the "no big deal" way it is treated. It's refreshing.

It's on BBC America on Saturday evenings. Trust me.
