Novels?

Ironic Pink and I had an interesting conversation today about what novels we thought should make a best-of list. I thought it would be fun to see what books make y'all's lists of favorites. I'll start.

Here's my list for this moment, in no particular order. Don't make me choose a favorite, now.
  • Almanac of the Dead by Leslie Marmon Silko
  • The Color Purple by Alice Walker
  • Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison
  • As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner
  • Absalom, Absalom! by William Faulkner
  • The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison
  • Beloved by Toni Morrison

I have to admit that one of the things I love and admire about EssBee is how well read she is. It made me a bit nervous to refer to my paltry list of favorites (especially cuz half of them are already on her list). Here is mine:

The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy
The Humming Bird's Daughter by Luis Alberto Urrea
The Almanac of the Dead by Leslie Marmon Silko
The Talisman by Stephen King
Harry Potter Series (books 4 and 5 are my favorites)
