Racial Inheritance

If you haven't seen it yet, I highly, highly recommend that you go and read Alice Walker's brilliant essay "White People Have a Racial History Too", which she posted on Alternet a few days ago. Thanks to RR for turning me on to it.

Walker is one of the great teachers of our time. She is an elder for my generation of feminists. Every time I read something she writes, I become a little bit smarter.

Walker's comments about Obama are a refreshing break from the media's bullshit on the ongoing primary. The addition of her voice to the discussion about race and gender in this election is very welcome and necessary. I wish I could thank her.
